Accessibility of this website

What we aim for

Our reference is WCAG 2.2, the international guidelines for web accessibility, at level AA. We do not meet all of them yet: further down you will find the three points where we fall short.

The new European standard for digital accessibility, EN 301 549, published in September 2026, adopts WCAG 2.2. Until it takes effect, the previous version still applies. It is based on WCAG 2.1, which WCAG 2.2 includes.

How we checked

We ran every page through automated tools and went through each one by hand using only the keyboard.

We have not yet tested the site with a real screen reader, such as NVDA on Windows or VoiceOver on Mac and iPhone. No automated tool replaces that test, and it is the next one we will do.

What already works

• Every page has one main heading and section headings in order, so with a screen reader you can jump from one part to another.
• You can use the whole site with a keyboard. Where you are always stays visible, and Esc closes menus and windows and takes you back to where you were.
• At the top of every page there is a link that takes you straight to the content, without going through the menu again.
• The site reads fine on a screen 320 pixels wide, or with enlarged and more widely spaced text, without scrolling sideways.
• If you have asked your device for less motion, we stop it: carousels, counters and background videos stay still. The logo carousel has a pause button anyway.
• Images have a text alternative, in the language of the page.
• Form fields have labels that screen readers read out, even where they do not appear on screen.
• The cookie banner does not block the page: you can read and move around before you choose.
• Without JavaScript all the content can still be read. Sending a form does need it: in that case the page suggests writing to us by e-mail.

What is not right yet

There are three points, and we know about them.

• The brand orange has too little contrast. On a white background, or with white text on top, it reaches 3.40:1, while normal text needs 4.5:1. You notice it on buttons and on some highlighted words. Fixing it takes a darker orange, and that choice belongs to the people who look after our visual identity.
• In the bar at the top, the language that is not selected (IT or EN) is very light: on the orange background the contrast is 2.01:1. Screen readers still announce the active language, and the two differ in lightness, so you can tell them apart without seeing the colours.
• The search field does not have a visible enough border: its outline stays below the 3:1 contrast required for elements you interact with.

When we have fixed them we will say so here, with the date.
